Home Parish: St. Anne's Monroe Hobbies/Interests: Sports (watching and playing) Prior occupation: Sacred Heart Seminary College Reflection: I would have to say that my vocation was first nurtured in the home. I was raised in a very Catholic environment. My mom converted to Catholicism in 2007 (from Lutheranism) so it was much more my Father who helped raise us 6 kids in the faith. My dad was always praying (and still prays much) and would have us pray with him from the Liturgy of the Hours (texts from Sacred Scripture), rosaries, chaplets, and sometimes go to Mass during the week with him. He taught us right from wrong and set a good example for us. Growing up in grade school and early high school I was in love with my faith, but not fully because I was afraid to show it in front of my friends and did not want to be made fun of as the 'Catholic geek'. It was not until I attended a summer youth conference at Franciscan University of Steubenville that the Lord really shaped my heart. It is there that I surrendered to the Lord and He revealed Himself in a very powerful way to me. He spun my world around 180 (in a good way!) From this retreat I actually started living what the retreat said: praying and living my faith. I started a daily prayer life and eventually started to go to Mass several times a week and Confession more often. During prayer I started to notice that the Lord placed these strong desires to be a priest in my heart (desires to celebrate the Mass, hear Confessions, preach the Gospel, etc.). So now I am here today, and the Lord continues to strengthen my vocation and call to the priesthood. I just come to the Lord in openness and faith and He puts this strong desire to be a priest in my heart. I just keep saying 'yes' to the Lord by the grace of God, so all thanks and praise to the Lord.
