About Fr. Marc, Pastor

Fr. Marc Gawronski was born on February 26, 1961, one of six children to Norman and Genevie Gawronski. He was raised in Westland MI, where he attended St. Damian Grade School. After graduating from Divine Child High School, he graduated from The University of Michigan with a B.A. in Psychology. Fr. Marc has an MTS and and M.Div. from St. John Provincial Seminary, and an M.A. in Theology (Liturgical Studies) from the University of Notre Dame. He is fluent in Spanish, and gets along in English.

Fr. Marc’s assignments have included Christ the Good Shepherd in Lincoln Park, ( 1991-1995) St. Patrick in White Lake, (1995-1996) St. Stephen / Mary, Mother of the Church, Detroit (1996-2002) and St. Mary, Rockwood.(2002-2005) He formerly taught at SS Cyril and Methodious Seminary in Orchard Lake, MI. He is currently the pastor of St. Mary in Monroe and adjunct instructor in Sacramental Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Fr. Marc serves on the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Detroit, and on the boards of Monroe Catholic Charities and St. Mary, Catholic Central High School.

Fr. Marc lives at St. Mary’s with Fr. Bob Singelyn, and his lovely dog, Rosa, who is mostly a Jack Russel Terrier. Most of the time, the latter two get along just fine.

In December 2009, Fr. Marc was elected Vicar of the Monroe Vicariate which is made up of 14 Monroe County Churches.
